Juno Dunes's "down-river indie (rock/roll)" comes to us by way of New Orleans. Balancing thoughtful lyrics and sun-bleached grooves with a swampy mysticism, the songs echo influences of songwriters Kurt Vile and Tom Petty. Since their debut in 2018, Juno Dunes has been refining a special blend of easy-listening alternative through writing, recording, and performing all around the US.
oh, hooray is an art project that makes celebratory sad music. Through exploration of multi-media as an extension of their music (film, stop motion photography, theatre, dance, etc.), oh, hooray has been featured on NPR Music's blog for their tiny desk contest submissions, was selected to perform in the 2025 mixMATCH festival as well as Houston Music Classifieds independent music festival Solar Flare. They are currently releasing music from their upcoming record "the city has teeth i think i saw them once" and will be doing so throughout 2025/2026. 2025's split single "LIKE THE REAL THING / A TRULY GREAT MAN" is the epitome of the communal chaos that Jamie and co. aim to capture in their music. While the project is a direct commentary on Christian nationalism, the disintegration of labor rights and the growing political unease within the United States, ultimately hooray's goal is to cry, laugh and scream together. Therein lies the greatest strength of the band; the refusal to give up on art, expression, activism and, perhaps most importantly, shared humanity. Check out Splice Records for more events, such as the upcoming River Revival Festival in New Braunfels, TX on September 25-28.
